What You'll Learn

The skills below give an idea of the types of skills we teach in our Tricking classes:

1. Backflip

  • A foundational tricking move where the performer jumps backward, rotating 360 degrees in the air before landing on their feet. Often serves as a gateway move to more advanced tricks.

2. Cork (Corkscrew)

  • A one-legged, twisting backflip that combines the elements of a backflip and a full twist, but is launched off one leg. Corks are popular for combos and offer a stylish look.

3. Flash Kick

  • A backflip with a distinct leg separation (or “flash”) at the peak of the flip. It’s an eye-catching trick and often used in routines to add flair.

4. B-Twist (Butterfly Twist)

  • A twisting flip performed on a horizontal plane, similar to a butterfly kick in martial arts, but with an added twist in mid-air. It’s known for its aesthetic flow.

5. Aerial

  • Essentially a cartwheel without hands, the aerial is often one of the first tricking moves learned and acts as a building block for complex moves.

6. 540 Kick

  • A kicking trick where the performer spins 540 degrees before kicking with the leading leg. It’s highly popular in martial arts demonstrations and tricking sequences.

7. Double Full (Dub)

  • A backflip with two full twists, demanding strong core control and spatial awareness. The double full is a staple for advanced tricking and can be incorporated into combinations.

8. Raiz

  • A hybrid move with origins in Capoeira, similar to a cartwheel but with more of a circular, flipping motion. It’s smooth and ideal for transitions between tricks.

9. Full Twist

  • A backflip with one full twist, often used as a fundamental twisting skill before progressing to multiple twists. This move is foundational and appears in many tricking combos.

10. Gainer

  • A backflip where the performer moves forward instead of backward, creating an illusion of defying physics. Often performed off one leg, gainers can be combined with other tricks for sequences.

Everyone learns at their own pace so there is no specific time frame to learn a new skill.

What To Wear To Tricking Class

Wear clothes that are comfortable but not too baggy.

Shorts or leggings are ideal with a tshirt.

If your clothes are too baggy they will prevent the coach from being able to physically support you properly, should you need it.

Also tie up long hair and remove all jewellery.

Tricking is practiced barefoot.
