Are you tired of the same old fitness routine? Do you want to try something visually stunning that will physically and mentally challenge you?
Aerial Class Levels
Aerial Silks training can be tough on the body, but with encouragement and professional guidance from the instructors, you will soon progress through the basics.
Silks classes will improve your strength, flexibility and awareness.
You will start with a warm up combining cardio, conditioning and dynamic stretching to make sure all your joints are fully warm
Following the warm up you will then move onto the equipment to learn climbs and strengthening exercises before moving onto positions, wraps and (eventually) drops and choreography.
The last few minutes of class are spent doing cool down which involves lengthening and stretching out all the muscles used in the session.
If you are looking for somewhere fun to begin your Aerial Silks training then our classes are for you!
Common Questions
FAQs
We have put together answers to common questions that we receive about aerial silks classes.
Aerial silk classes teach students how to climb, wrap, and maneuver fabric to perform beautiful and dynamic movements in the air. Classes typically include conditioning exercises, technique training, and creative expression while learning to safely execute tricks, drops, and poses.
Our Aerial silk classes are open to all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced aerialists. Whether you’re looking for a fun way to stay active or want to develop performance skills, aerial silks can be adapted to different fitness levels and abilities.
The primary equipment used in aerial silk classes includes:
- Aerial Silks (also called fabric or tissue) – long, strong fabric suspended from a secure rigging point.
- Landing Mats – thick padding placed underneath to enhance safety.
- Rigging Hardware – including carabiners, swivels, and rescue eights, which secure the silks to the ceiling or rigging structure.
Wear fitted, stretchy clothing that covers your legs and torso to protect your skin from friction burns. Leggings or athletic tights paired with a snug-fitting top work well. Avoid loose clothing, jewellery, zippers, or anything that could snag the fabric. Bare feet are best for gripping the silks.
Aerial silks, like any physical activity, come with some risks, but proper training and safety measures significantly reduce the chances of injury. Certified instructors from Aircraft Circus Academy emphasise controlled progressions, safe spotting techniques, and the use of safety mats to create a secure learning environment. Following instructions and practicing at your skill level is key to staying safe.
Many people from across London travel to our aerial silks classes because there are not a lot of places where you can find facilities.
We run sessions out of Brunswick Park school in Camberwell.
